The Incredible Mental Power–(I)

有一個人得了末期癌症，醫生宣判活不過半年。
A woman was diagnosed with terminal cancer and her doctor told her that she had no more than half a year to live.

這個人失神落魄地來到一間寺廟，淚眼汪汪地望著觀世音菩薩，“寞寞著”訴說內心的痛苦。
Scared out of her wits, she came to a temple and stared at Kuan-Yin Bodhisattva with tears in her eyes. She said everything on her mind to Kuan-Yin Bodhisattva.

是夜輾轉反側難眠，寤寐之際，好像夢到菩薩叫她持大悲咒跟人結緣。
She couldn’t sleep that night. When she was half awake and half asleep, she seemed to dream of the Bodhisattva telling her to abide by the Great Compassion Mantra water to form ties of friendship with others.

猛然一醒，半信半疑，現在的她猶如泥菩薩過江，尚且需要菩薩賜大悲咒水，“我持大悲咒水有人要嗎？”
Suddenly she woke up with half belief and half doubt. Now she was unable to save herself, let alone others. She was badly in need of the Great Compassion Mantra water from the Bodhisattva. “Does anyone want my Great Compassion Mantra water,” she thought to herself.

可是夢境卻又如此清晰.思慮再三，最終決定遵照菩薩的指示，掛起“大悲咒水結緣”的牌子，天天持大悲咒。
But the dream was a clear one. After a second thought, she decided to follow the Bodhisattva’s instructions and hang the signboard of the water and recite the Mantra every day.

很不可思議，每天就是有一二百人來請大悲咒水回去喝，逼著她每天不得不持大悲咒。
Incredibly, one or two hundred people came to take the water home to drink, which forced her to recite the Mantra every day.

夜晚，人去樓空，
她向菩薩頂禮一百零八拜，感謝菩薩今天她還活著，可以、也完成了菩薩指示的工作，持大悲咒水與人結緣。
During the night, when everybody was gone, she worshipped the Bodhisattva 108 times, grateful for her survival so that she could follow the Bodhisattva’s instructions to recite the Mantra and establish affinities with people.

同時也向菩薩告假，明天是否能爬得起來見到太陽，不知道。
Then she bade the Bodhisattva goodbye. She wasn’t sure if she could survive that night.

她懷著感恩的心拜那一百零八拜。
就這樣每天每天重複做，不知不覺走到現在，
癌細胞還在，只是“維持現狀”。
She repeated the 108 rounds of worship every day with gratitude since then. The amount of cancer cells remained the same.

如果這個人一直求菩薩給她大悲咒水，一直認為要等她病好才要做菩薩指示她的工作，她能活到今天嗎？……
If she had kept begging the Bodhisattva for the Great Compassion Mantra water and had been unwilling to follow the Bodhisattva’s instructions, could she have survived until now?
