註:常者,法身也;
寂者,解脫也;

The Co-Existence of the Mundane Beings and Sages

There are four kinds of pure lands in the Paradise: (1) the land with both mundane beings and sages, (2) the land of convenience and remainder, (3) the land of true retribution and magnificence, and (4) the land of constancy, silence, and radiance.

Most ordinary people are reborn into the first one, where purity and dirt co-exist. Dirt stands for the Saha World, while purity stands for the Paradise. Both belong to the transformational lands.

The Paradise is made with Seven Jewels. The ground is paved with gold, and the treasure trees are magnificent. There, you can have whatever you want, and there are neither pains nor contaminations. Everything is magnificent and wondrous.

On the contrary, the land we are in has Three Realms that are like a burning house, are filled with contaminations and dirt, and are extremely painful. When it is hot, it will be hotter; when it is cold, it will be colder. There are numerous problems of air-pollution and environmental protection.

Strictly speaking, those who are reincarnated into this land with both mundane beings and sages are still very adherent and have not entered the Self-Nature Real Form yet.

The second one, the land of convenience and remainder, is where the beings of the seventh expedient position reside, i.e., only the Bodhisattvas that rank seventh or higher can be reincarnated into. But their mundane consciousness still remains, so it is called the land of (convenience and) remainder. It belongs to the Equal Nature Wisdom and is also called transformational land.

The retribution land accomplished by the Great Perfect Mirror Wisdom belongs to the realm within one’s heart and is also called the land of true retribution and magnificence where only Bodhisattvas can reside. Those who practice the Middle Way and real dharma can attain such a magnificent retribution. Take the human mind for example. If one’s mind can know the Middle Way and fulfill the real dharma, then what he gains is called the land of true retribution and magnificence.

The land of constancy, silence, and radiance is a dharma nature land where only Buddhas reside. The body of self-nature relies on this land and there is no difference between the body and the land here. Achievements made by all kinds of wisdom are accumulated here and only Buddhas can know them.

P.S.: The word “constancy” here refers to the dharmakaya (the dharma body); “silence” refers to liberation; “radiance” refers to prajna (wisdom).
