Be Diligent in Practice

Be Diligent in Practice

How do we attain achievements in the cultivation of Buddhism?  To cultivate the genuine principles is the top priority.  Because the self-mind possesses the nature of afflictions, we should get rid of bad affinities and stay close to the realm of silence to counteract afflictions, view the path, and practice the path.  Then we can abide by the principles without violations and mistakes.

When afflictions arise, we can suppress them by adhering to right thoughts.  A spiritual practitioner has to be diligent to open up the Bodhi of self-nature so that he will be able to understand the whole virtues of life before becoming sophisticated.

To cultivate, we can start from forming aspirations.  If we are replete with great compassion and all virtues, we can give rise to all dharmas and open up compassion and wisdom to benefit others with expedients.  If we can give rise to the courageous, altruist, and compassionate mind and create various kinds of convenient paths, we will be able to make all living beings confirm principles together.

Therefore, a practitioner has to cultivate to attain capabilities, wisdom and merits and turn them into power sambhara so that he will be able to benefit others.

Why are we unable to benefit others?  This is because our minds are not pure yet and cannot function.  If a cultivator wants to benefit others, he should abide by the Buddhist undertakings and pure cultivation.  Also, he has to mind the three karmas of his—the body, speech, and thought—and then abide with right knowledge, right thought, and diligence.

A spiritual practitioner who vows to benefit others should also have the vows of those who are mindful of the Buddhas and cultivate attentively.  When he has been reincarnated to the Pure Land, he will still keep his compassionate vows and will return to the Saha World to transform sentient beings with convenience.

So, when one has got enlightened, he still has to do what he has to do, practice the ten major vows of Samantabhadra Bodhisattva, and cultivate the wisdom of all seeds.  When all the various kinds of wisdom have become replete, he will naturally know all kinds of expedients and operate freely the nature, like the rain that nurtures everything and makes them grow and mature.

One can shake the universe by raising the leg, and make the sun and the moon cover the world by waving the hand.

A rapid blow brings the iron fence away, and a mild exhalation moves Mt. Sumeru.

The Void can contain everything like the sun, the moon, and other stars, mountains, rivers, earth, springheads, streams, trees, jungles, and so on.  They are always in the Void, blending into the embodiment of the Tathagata.
