The Engineering of Cultivating the Mind

The Engineering of Cultivating the Mind

After the door is closed and when I have nothing to do, this place is the mountain.

I only feel the weird chirping of the birds, but I don’t know that people are in the same situation.

The flowers bloom late due to the rain, and the remaining fruits fall because of the wind.

Wherever you are—in the woods, cave or back of a mountain—as long as you can make your intention abide inward, you are cultivating stopping and the place you are in is the responding place.  This can make you correct and withdraw physically and mentally instead of changing with situations.  Your place is for you to stabilize your mind and cultivate Samadhi.

The high location of a snowy mountain is suitable for people to cultivate observation, but it has to be compatible with personal conditions.  If one lives in a high and wide place and his nature is clear and wide, then such a place is good for observing wisdom.

The choice for cultivation site has to assimilate its significance.  It is very important to have a good place for cultivating one’s conduct and principles.  The place you live in has to be able to make you give rise to the desire for cultivating the principles and increase your sambhara.  If so, such a place will be the real place of Bodhi.

The self-nature is extremely silent and the residence is neat.

With pure water, I practice ascetically and I am nurtured by virtues.

Since all the delusions, chaos, troubles, and disturbances are already gone in this life,

I intend to cultivate the deep Samadhi approaches.

When cultivating, we should know the realm in which the self-nature is pure and extinct, and is like the purified water that can cleanse the taint in our minds and thus can turn our ascetic practice into merits.  Choosing a place for practice may not only make us peaceful mentally and physically and hardworking but also increase our blessings, virtues and wisdom.  Then, it will be easy for us to make achievements in cultivating the deep approaches.
