Penetrating the Basic Cultivation

無憶是戒 無念是定
莫妄是慧 專心一意

   不生異念、便能具備了戒、定、慧三學基礎。

   剛開始學佛法的人,還不能清淨自在,最怕貢高我慢。須放下已有的成見,平息自滿的意念。就好像海,靜下來才知道曾有波濤。水清了才映出影像,學佛到一個階段後,須要無念。斷除所有雜紊的亂想,捨棄世間諸多欲念。

   因為想要開悟,就不能有諸多雜念,心思專注凝靜,才會撥開雲霧見青天。這時連「無念」都不存在了,因為它也是一個造作的念頭。

   學習佛法,這就是「莫妄」的大智慧境界。由戒入定、由定修慧,成為一個全心全意,清純真正的大自在人、無憂無愁無惱的修行者。 

   只有斷除一切妄想執著,才能擺脫一切欲望的束縛。

無常極迅速 談天及義乎
閒聊成枯骨 逸興一坏墳
是非不孤起 邪正罔得義
寧知無明盡 般若非言思

Penetrating the Basic Cultivation

Non-recalling belongs to the admonition, non-intention belongs to stability, and non-false thoughts belong to wisdom.  Be attentive.

One will be replete with the basis of admonition, stability, and wisdom if he does not give rise to false thoughts.

Beginners of the Buddhist Dharma are still unable to stay pure and at ease, and what they should avoid most is being arrogant.  They should abandon their existing prejudices and cease their complacence.  Only when the sea has calmed down can we know that there used to be waves. 

Only when the water is clear can it reflect images.  When one has learned the Buddhist Dharma to a certain degree, he has to be thoughtless—to sever all the complicated thoughts and abandon all the mundane desires.  This is because if one intends to get enlightened, he should not have much wishful thinking, but should be attentive and calm so that he will dispel the clouds and see the sun.  At this point, even the “thoughtlessness” does not exist, because it is also a made-up thought. 

This is the realm of great wisdom in cultivating Buddhism in which one enters stability from admonition, cultivates wisdom from stability, and then becomes a wholehearted, pure and real free person as well as a carefree practitioner. 

The impermanent comes very quickly. 

When chatting, are we talking about meaningful matters?

If we keep chatting, we will eventually become withered and rotten bones.

By seeking pleasure, we will finally be buried in the grave.

Right and wrong do not arise alone. 

Evil will and good will do not meet justice. 

We prefer to know the termination of ignorance.

Prajnaparamita cannot be talked or thought about.
