My Home—Seeking the Way Back
In the grand garden, who knows the gardener?
I am seeking the way back in the crowd. Where is my home?
Buddhist disciples, what is the dharma body? How many kinds of dharma body are there? There are real form dharma body, merit dharma body, dharma nature dharma body, manifestation dharma body, and void dharma body.
- What is the real form dharma body? It’s the body in which the mind to understand does not spoil.
- What is the merit dharma body? It’s the body in which the mind contains all phenomena.
- What is the dharma nature dharma body? It’s the body in which the mind to understand is empty.
- What is the manifestation dharma body? It’s the body that lectures according to different capabilities of the hearers.
- What is the void dharma body? It’s the body in which the mind is formless.
Although the dharma body is divided into five categories, they are of only one origin.
Buddhist disciples, there are another five categories of the dharma body:
- The precept dharma body: The body, speech, and mind are pure and are away from all faults.
- The stability dharma body: The real mind is silent and is away from all false thoughts.
- The wisdom dharma body: The real wisdom is perfect and bright, and can see and penetrate the dharma nature.
- The liberated dharma body: Both the body and the mind are liberated from all restraints.
- The liberated view dharma body: One knows that he has been liberated.
The real mind clearly reflects the non-complying situation.
I absorb emptiness, and let affinities take their course, and never give rise to a thought.
Everything is clear without being concealed and is often clearly realized.
Whether unfolded or folded, it is always without a trace.
It’s like a clear pond or a fertile land, and is also like a clear mirror hanging in the sky.
All phenomena are connected together, but with a flash of understanding one will realize that they are empty. There is neither exiting nor entering, and there is neither existence nor non-existence. So all saints will return to the Buddha nature, which is also called the genuine Buddha nature or pure dharma body.
The wondrous body of the Tathagata is everywhere in the river sand.
All phenomena are connected together without being covered up.
Not until I attain the real dharma eye of perfection and penetration
Will I know that the dharma realm is my home.
Let’s share this short text. Auspiciousness to you all.
Shih Yuantong,
Palms together.
